What causes ankle and foot pain?
The foot and ankle take your whole body weight all day, so pain here is very common. The usual causes are:
- Plantar fasciitis — the most common cause of heel pain, worst with the first steps in the morning.
- Ankle sprains — stretched or torn ligaments after a twist, sometimes leaving lasting instability.
- Tendon problems — such as Achilles pain at the back of the heel.
- Arthritis or an old, poorly healed injury.
Morning heel pain — the classic sign
Sharp heel pain that is worst with your very first steps in the morning and eases as you walk is almost always plantar fasciitis. It is frustrating but reassuring: the great majority of cases settle with the right stretches, supportive footwear or insoles, and simple measures. Surgery is very rarely needed — the key is the correct plan, followed consistently.
How an online consultation helps
Foot and ankle problems are assessed from your history and by watching how you move the joint — which works well on a video call. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ali will confirm the cause, review any X-rays, and give you a clear plan: the right stretches, footwear or insoles, whether you need a brace or an injection, and any tests that are genuinely needed. Getting the diagnosis right early prevents months of the wrong treatment.

What causes heel pain, especially in the morning?
Sharp heel pain worst with your first steps in the morning is usually plantar fasciitis — inflammation of the tissue under the foot. Most cases improve with stretching, supportive footwear and simple measures. Dr. Ahmed can confirm it and give you a plan that works.
Can an ankle or foot problem be treated online?
Yes, most can. They're assessed from your history and how you move the joint — which works well on video. A fresh, severe injury should be X-rayed at a hospital first.
How do I know if my ankle is sprained or broken?
Hard to tell without an X-ray. If you can't put weight on it, there's a lot of swelling/bruising, or the bone is tender to press, get it imaged to rule out a fracture — then Dr. Ahmed can guide recovery.
Does plantar fasciitis need surgery?
Almost never. The vast majority settles with stretching, the right footwear or insoles, activity changes and sometimes an injection. The key is the right plan followed consistently.
How much does a consultation cost?
Rs 5,000 per session — including the video consultation, review of any X-rays, a diagnosis and treatment plan, and a prescription where appropriate.
