What causes elbow pain?
Most elbow pain comes from overuse of the tendons that attach around the joint, rather than the joint itself. The common types are:
- Tennis elbow — pain on the outer side, from the tendons that straighten the wrist and fingers. Most people who get it have never played tennis.
- Golfer's elbow — the same problem on the inner side.
- Arthritis or a trapped nerve — less common, but worth ruling out.
- An old injury that has left lasting pain or stiffness.
Tennis elbow — the everyday cause
Tennis elbow usually builds up gradually from repetitive gripping, lifting, typing or manual work — not sport. It causes pain on the outer elbow that is worse when you grip or lift, and it can be surprisingly stubborn. The reassuring part is that the vast majority settles with the right approach: resting the aggravating activity, specific strengthening exercises, a brace and sometimes an injection.
How an online consultation helps
Elbow problems are assessed from your symptoms and by watching how the elbow and wrist move — which works well on a video call. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ali will pinpoint the cause, give you a clear plan with the exercises that actually work for your problem, and tell you whether you need a brace, an injection or any imaging. Getting the right plan early usually saves months of frustration.

What is tennis elbow?
Pain on the outer elbow from overuse of the tendons that straighten the wrist and fingers. Most people who get it have never played tennis — it usually comes from repetitive gripping, lifting or work. Golfer's elbow is the same on the inner side. Both usually improve without surgery.
What causes elbow pain?
Most often tendon overuse — tennis or golfer's elbow. It can also come from arthritis, a trapped nerve or an old injury. A proper assessment identifies which, because treatment differs.
Can elbow pain be treated online?
Yes. It's assessed from your symptoms and how the elbow and wrist move — which works well on video. Dr. Ahmed will identify the cause and tell you whether you need a brace, physiotherapy, an injection or imaging.
Does tennis elbow need surgery?
Very rarely. Most settles with rest from the aggravating activity, exercises, a brace and sometimes an injection. Surgery is only for stubborn cases that haven't responded to proper treatment.
How much does a consultation cost?
Rs 5,000 per session — including the video consultation, review of any reports, a diagnosis and treatment plan, and a prescription where appropriate.
